Manchester United fans were thrown into excitement a day ago when Europe’s top transfer journalist, Fabrizio Romano posted that Benjamin Sesko is heading to Old Trafford. There had been back and forth on which club will pay Sesko high valued release clause.
Softfootball had been following Sesko’s transfer saga which started right from when Arsenal made Sesko their top priority but were chased off by RB Leipzig’s demands for the player earlier in the summer. Since then, Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United have been heavily linked to the player.

Newcastle United had led in the race a few days ago. The Magpies had been put in a test spot with the departure of Callum Wilson and the sudden request of Alexander Isak to leave the club amidst links to Liverpool. Although the black and white rejected Liverpool’s offer.
Now, United seem to have hijacked the the transfer with Fabrizio Romano posting the news on his verified X handle.
He wrote:
“Benjamin Šeško has reached total agreement with Manchester United on personal terms. Contract until June 2030. Šeško wants to join United, clear feeling revealed yesterday here. Never gave similar indication to other clubs.”
With Sesko almost got by United, reactions have been pouring in and United legend, Rio Ferdinand articulated his two cents about the player. Rio reacted on his socials via his Rio Reacts videos.
The multiple trophy winning defender said:
“A lot of people are going to say ‘has he got the experience?’, I was one of those guys in that camp asking ‘where is a player who can show the young, inexperienced strikers we have at the club how to do things?
“In times of need who do they look to, he is going to have to step up and be that guy, can he do it? Yes he can do it, he’s got huge potential.
“As a defender, I am looking and thinking differently about Manchester United’s frontline, I would be thinking, ‘I am going to have a physical presence up there, have a physical test from all three positions and players who can move, they are mobile.”
