Manchester United’s young goalkeeper Senne Lammens has opened up about the moment he learned that legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson hailed him as “outstanding,” calling it a huge boost for his confidence at the club.
The 23-year-old arrived from Royal Antwerp in the summer transfer window in a move that divided opinions. Lammens wasn’t thrown straight into the team but has impressed since manager Ruben Amorim handed him his first Premier League start against Sunderland. Now, after six appearances for the Red Devils, the Belgian goalkeeper has clearly caught the eye of club legends and fans alike.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Manchester United Media, shared via the club’s official X handle, Lammens reflected on the recognition and what it means for him as a young player still finding his place in the first team. He said;
Yeah, I read it somewhere and, at first, I couldn’t really believe it, to be honest,” Lammens said.
“He is such a big name and especially at this club, so I was a little bit surprised, but it felt really, really good, to be honest. I haven’t met him yet, so I’m looking forward to that as well. But coming from him, yeah, it’s really nice to hear as well, someone with so much experience and such a big name at this club. It’s only good to hear.

Softfootball earlier reported that former Manchester United captain and club legend Rio Ferdinand has praised Lammens, noting his positive influence on the squad and the good energy he brings to the dressing room.

Lammens was in action earlier this week as Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat to 10-man Everton, a disappointing result for the team. The young goalkeeper and his teammates will now be looking to bounce back stronger in their next Premier League outing.
For Lammens, Ferguson’s endorsement is a sign that his performances are being noticed at the highest level, providing a boost of confidence as he looks to cement his place in the squad. With young talents like Lammens making their mark and earning praise from club legends, Manchester United supporters will be hoping for strong performances and positive results in the weeks ahead.
