Ruben Amorim has revealed the reason he doesn’t start England midfielder, Kobbie Mainoo at Manchester United, Softfootball reveals.
The Red Devils academy product has not started any premier league match for the club this season and on the bench again last weekend as Manchester United beat Wolves 4-1 and only made a cameo appearance in the game.

Speaking in an interview that was shared by football expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Amorim revealed his reason for benching Mainoo this season. He said:
Of course I rate Kobbie Mainoo. But in the end, it’s going to be the training, the games. Of course, he’s not playing so many games, but Kobbie has had opportunities, especially last year. Everyone has. Kobbie Mainoo plays in the same position as Bruno Fernandes, and it’s difficult to take him off the team.

Interestingly, Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand had asked Mainoo to seek a January exit from Manchester United and the manager was asked if the play makes such request, how would he react to it. Amorim replied:
If Kobbie comes to me and talks to me, I will talk with him. I’m not going to say what I’m going to say to Kobbie, but I will be really pleased if Kobbie is coming to talk to me about that. Toby Collyer is not playing at West Brom. Harry Amass is struggling in Championship. Chido is not always starter in the U21s. I played them when people said: sack the manager. You can see I’m not worried. I want to win. If he’s the right guy, I will put him in.
Manchester United will be in action tonight against Bournemouth at Old Trafford in the Premier League Match-Day 16 fixture.
