Ruben Amorim Concerned Over Sesko’s Knee After Dramatic Tottenham Draw

3 Min Read

Ruben Amorim has revealed concerns over Benjamin Sesko’s fitness following Manchester United’s dramatic 2-2 draw at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. United seemed to be in control after Bryan Mbeumo’s first-half header gave them the lead, but the game took a late twist in north London.

Harry Maguire was forced off in the 72nd minute with a suspected hamstring problem, and shortly after, Mathys Tel struck to level the score. United’s substitute Sesko then went down following a challenge from Micky van de Ven and could not continue, leaving the visitors to finish the game with ten men.

Spurs appeared to have snatched all three points in injury time through Richarlison a twist of events which softfootball predicted earlier in the match preview , but Matthijs de Ligt’s header from a corner salvaged a 2-2 draw in the 96th minute.

When asked about Sesko’s condition in his post-match press conference, as review by Fabrizio Romano via his official X account, Amorim expresses concern over Sesko’s knee injury, stating how important he is to the team

Amorim said:

I am concerned with Šeško has he suffered knee injury.

It’s in the knee; we don’t know. We need Ben to be a better team. I have no idea. Because is the knee, we never know

Softfootball understands that the head coach did not provide a specific update on Maguire, though the centre-back returned to the pitch after the final whistle to applaud the away fans. Injury concerns for two key players come at a tricky moment for United, who had been showing signs of momentum in recent weeks.

Thankfully for the squad, the upcoming international break offers time to recover ahead of their next Premier League clash against Everton at Old Trafford on November 24. While Maguire was not called up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, Sesko has been named in Slovenia’s squad for World Cup qualifiers against Kosovo and Sweden, though it remains unclear if he will participate.

United remain unbeaten in their last five games and are currently seventh in the Premier League.
