Rosicky, Mertesacker Emerge As Leading Candidates To Replace Edu

Former Arsenal stars Tomas Rosicky and Per Mertesacker have emerged as leading contenders to succeed Edu Gaspar as the club’s Sporting Director.

Softfootball has understands that Arsenal have already begun the search for Edu’s replacement, with both Rosicky and Mertesacker featuring prominently on the club’s shortlist.

According to reports from Foot Mercato, discussions have already taken place with both former players as Arsenal consider appointing one of them to oversee the club’s football operations.

Rosicky, who made 246 appearances for the Gunners during his playing career, currently serves as sporting director at Czech side Sparta Prague.

Mertesacker, meanwhile, made 221 appearances for Arsenal and is presently the club’s academy manager, where he has played a key role in developing young talent.

Both former teammates enjoyed successful spells in north London, winning the FA Cup and the Community Shield before transitioning into football management roles after retirement.
