Rodrygo Admits He Can Only Keep Working as He Fights for Trust at Real Madrid

Rodrygo Goes has offered a candid update on his situation at Real Madrid, admitting he feels unsure about his place in the team but remains determined to work his way back into Xabi Alonso’s plans.

Speaking after Brazil’s 1–1 draw with Tunisia, as reported by SoftFootball, he said the only thing he can control right now is how hard he trains, echoing sentiments he shared earlier this season.

He said he wants to earn belief at Real Madrid the same way he has under Carlo Ancelotti with Brazil in a post shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account.

Fabrizio Romano posted:

Rodrygo: My place at Real Madrid? There’s not so much I can do… just work hard, every training session.

It’s there where I can try to get the confidence from the manager as I have from Ancelotti with Brazil.

The Brazilian acknowledged that patience has been difficult, especially in a season where he has featured in only a quarter of Real Madrid’s total minutes. He reminded reporters that he has always given everything for the club, pointing back to his recent words after Madrid’s win over Barcelona, when he described the victory as great.

Rodrygo admitted that the biggest challenge has not been the lack of starts but the feeling of being moved around too much on the pitch. He prefers the left side, yet he has mostly been pushed to the right or even used as a central forward.

With Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé ahead of him, it has been tough to lock down a consistent role. His form dipped at the end of last season, when he scored just once in three months, and that stretch seems to still be weighing on him now.

Interestingly, Rodrygo feels a level of trust with Brazil that he has not yet earned with Alonso. Carlo Ancelotti, now the national team coach, has praised his discipline and clarity of movement, which Rodrygo says gives him confidence. He added that Brazil’s structure feels clearer, helping him play with more freedom.

Despite everything, Rodrygo has no desire to leave Madrid. He said he will stay committed and keep pushing, but if things do not change by summer, he may need to sit down with the club to talk about the future. For now, though, he insists he is a team player and will continue giving 100 per cent, as reported previously by SoftFootball.
