Rodri has sparked major transfer speculation after admitting he would be open to joining Real Madrid CF, despite his past ties to Atlético Madrid, Softfootball reports.

In an interview with Onda Cero, as reported by Fabrizio Romano on his official X handle, the Manchester City midfielder stated that no player would turn down a club of Real Madrid’s stature.

Rodri: “The fact that I played for Atlético Madrid does NOT stop me from playing for Real Madrid”. “You CANNOT refuse the best clubs in the world”, told Onda Cero.

In several other comments shared by Romano, the Ballon d’Or-winning Spaniard emphasized his respect for elite institutions, while also expressing admiration for the atmosphere at the Santiago Bernabéu, describing it as “incredible” and “intimidating.”

Rodri: “Playing at the Bernabéu is INCREDIBLE. It’s a very intimidating place”.

Rodri’s comments come amid ongoing reports that Madrid are considering midfield reinforcements, with a potential €100 million move being discussed ahead of the summer window. His contract at City runs until 2027, but his openness to a return to La Liga has intensified speculation.

Rodri: “I would like to return to La Liga, I still follow it”. “The Premier League is my weakness but it is also a very demanding league. For now, I am very happy there”, told Onda Cero.

However, the midfielder also addressed perceived tensions with Vinícius Júnior, dismissing any rivalry and attributing such narratives to media exaggeration, as also reported by Romano.

Rodri: “I have nothing against Vini Jr… I have maximum RESPECT for him, for everything he did that Ballon d’Or year too”. “It’s other people who decide who wins the Ballon d’Or. They tried to put us against each other, but that’s not the case”.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid recently reinforced their European dominance by eliminating Manchester City from the UEFA Champions League with a commanding aggregate victory.

Fan reactions remain divided, with City supporters concerned and Madrid fans debating his potential arrival.
