Declan Rice believes Arsenal produced one of their best performances of the season after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in the North London derby.
The England midfielder said the Gunners completely dominated the contest and felt they were unfortunate not to score several more goals despite creating numerous chances throughout the match.
Arsenal recovered from Son Heung-min’s opener through a Dominic Solanke own goal before Leandro Trossard netted the winner just before halftime. According to Softfootball, Rice praised the intensity and determination shown by his teammates, insisting the performance reflected exactly what a derby demands.
Speaking after the game, Rice said:
You can tell that it meant more than anything. From the first minute. The first half was pure domination.
He added:
I think we were probably unlucky that we didn’t score 10 tonight. That is the feeling.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta also praised his team’s display, describing it as
outstanding.
The victory moved Arsenal within four points of Premier League leaders Liverpool and strengthened their hopes of remaining firmly in the title race.
