Iran defender Ramin Rezaeian has been summoned by the country’s football federation after hugging a female supporter before Esteghlal’s league match against Chadormalou.
The 34-year-old was seen embracing the fan as the team arrived for Thursday’s fixture in Yazd, an incident that quickly drew the attention of Iran’s football authorities.
Softfootball understands the federation’s ethics committee has requested an explanation from the experienced defender over the encounter.

According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, Rezaeian met the female supporter while the players were travelling on the team bus before the match.
The report stated:
The ethics committee of the Football Federation of Iran has summoned Ramin Rezaeian,
adding that he
must explain the incident to the committee.
Rezaeian, who has represented Iran at international level and is one of Esteghlal’s senior players, has yet to publicly comment on the incident. It also remains unclear whether the ethics committee will impose any disciplinary sanctions after reviewing his explanation.
Under Iran’s Islamic laws, physical contact between unrelated men and women is prohibited, making the brief interaction a matter for disciplinary review.
