Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos has been complimentary of Chelsea ahead of their clash in the final of the inaugural expanded FIFA Club World Cup in New Jersey on Sunday in a game that offers more than a trophy.
The Blues booked their spot in the showpiece event which will see £30m awarded to the winners after defeating Fluminense on Tuesday, with both goals coming from Joao Pedro on his full debut.
However, Softfootball confirmed how PSG doubled Chelsea’s scoreline to record an emphatic 4-0 win over Real Madrid, thanks to a brace from Fabian Ruiz, a strike from Ousmane Dembele and a late goal by Goncalo Ramos.

Now, Goncalo has shared his views on Chelsea ahead of the final. The Portugal international has been very complimentary towards the Blues ahead of the meeting in New Jersey at the MetLife Stadium. Ramos told Livescore:
“They are a very good team. We know that, in this competition, after the group stage that every game will be very difficult, but we are only focused on ourselves. We don’t change the way that we play, it doesn’t matter (about) the other team.
“They are a very good team but they will not change anything about us.”
Goncalo Ramos who Newcastle wanted before his move to PSG is unlikely to start against Chelsea due to the presence of Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but with 19 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions last season, he can certainly pose a threat off the bench.
Even as Chelsea coasted to victory against Fluminense, Robert Sanchez failed to convince with some actions. John Obi Mikel was highly critical of the Spaniard on punditry duty for DAZN, having also criticised Sanchez after an earlier match against Flamengo, saying:
“I don’t think Robert Sanchez is the goalkeeper that can lead Chelsea to winning titles. He is not that guy. They need to bring in a top, top goalkeeper this summer if they want to compete.”
Softfootball understand Enzo Maresca is also keen to replace Sanchez, which was reinforced by Chelsea’s pursuit of Mike Maignan before the FIFA Club World Cup began, the France international now looks set to see out the final 12 months of his contract with AC Milan.
With both clubs having already reportedly accumulated over $100 million in prize money from the competition, the winner of the final is guaranteed a minimum of another $10 million, a significant fee in an era of growing concerns of big wage bills and financial restrictions for Europe’s top clubs.
Both teams were forced to cope without key players in their respective semi-final clashes, PSG against Real Madrid and Chelsea against Fluminense, with Pacho and Hernandez suspended for PSG and Liam Delap and Levi Colwill missing for Chelsea.
