Real Madrid’s Deal for Moroccan Teen Abdellah Ouazane Hits Last-Minute Snag

Real Madrid were all set to bring in Moroccan wonderkid Abdellah Ouazane. Everything looked lined up medical done, contract ready, excitement building. But now, out of nowhere, the deal’s been thrown into doubt.

The 16-year-old, who’s fresh off an impressive campaign with Ajax and the Moroccan U-17s, arrived in Madrid on Monday, according to Diario AS. It was supposed to be a formality. Instead, Madrid has slammed the brakes, and nobody’s quite sure why.

Rumours floating around say the medical might’ve raised a red flag, and a known Real Madrid fans account, Madrid Xtra, claimed on X that it was because of a failed medical.

His agents aren’t thrilled. They’ve said the club should make a decision by Thursday, or they’ll start looking elsewhere. And honestly, they wouldn’t struggle to find suitors. Softfootball understands that PSG, Barcelona, and of course, Ajax (who really didn’t want to let him go in the first place) have all been watching him closely.

The original plan was for Ouazane to sign a three-year deal, join Real Madrid Castilla, and work under Álvaro Arbeloa. A solid path for a creative midfielder who’s already shown plenty of maturity for his age, but it is looking very complex right now, much to the frustration of Madrid fans.

But that’s not even the only headache Madrid fans are dealing with right now. There’s also trouble on the Vinicius Junior front. Softfootball reported that contract talks have hit a wall. Apparently, Vinicius’ camp are asking for wages that Madrid just aren’t willing to meet.

For a player so important to the team, it’s a frustrating development sight for the fans, as it means Vini’s future is not certain, especially under the prying eyes of teams in Saudi Arabia.

Madrid’s transfer window, otherwise, has been eerily quiet. Since signing Álvaro Carreras from Benfica and Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool, not much else has happened. New manager Xabi Alonso surely knows reinforcements are needed, especially with so many competitions ahead.
