Real Madrid turned the game around to beat Mallorca 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu, making sure of a third straight La Liga win and stretching their home dominance over the island side to ten consecutive league victories.
The visitors stunned the Madrid faithful early when Vedat Muriqi powered in a header from a Pablo Torre corner after just 11 minutes. Los Blancos thought they had struck first minutes earlier through Kylian Mbappé, but the Frenchman’s finish was ruled out for offside, the first of three Madrid goals to be chalked off on the night.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men finally broke through before the break with two goals in quick succession. Dean Huijsen rose highest to meet Álvaro Carreras’ delivery and nodded across goal for Arda Güler to tap in the equaliser. Moments later, Vinícius Júnior danced through Mallorca’s defence and coolly slotted into the bottom corner to turn the game on its head.

Mbappé was twice denied by the flag and VAR, including one controversial call that left the Bernabéu crowd fuming, while Güler also saw a potential second goal disallowed after the ball struck his arm in the build-up. Despite the frustration, Real’s backline, led by Trent Alexander-Arnold and Carreras with crucial interventions, stood firm against late Mallorca pressure.

Softfootball understands that the 2-1 win keeps Madrid perfect at the start of the season, while Mallorca remains winless with just a single point from three games. Still, given that their defeats have come against Real Madrid and Barcelona, Jagoba Arrasate may take some comfort moving forward.
