Real Madrid have confirmed that midfielder Fede Valverde will be unavailable for Uruguay due to thigh injury, Softfootball reports.
Interestingly, the 27-year-old was in action for the Los Blanco at the weekend as Xabi Alonso’s men played out a goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano. That draw now gave Barcelona to close the gap on top of the table to three points after the Catalan club defeated Celta Vigo 4-2 away from home with Robert Lewandowski scoring a hat-trick.

In a statement released by Real Madrid via its official X handle, it read:
Following tests carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semimembranosus muscle in his right thigh. His recovery will be assessed.
Fede Valverde, who recently expressed his frustrations at his dip in form become the top Uruguayan appearance-maker in Real Madrid’s history. He made his 338th appearance in Vallecas, surpassing his compatriot José Emilio Santamaría, the legendary defender who completed 337 appearances for the Los Blancos.
Valverde scored 32 goals for Madrid, playing in seven different competitions with Real Madrid and his 338 matches includes 223 LaLiga appearances, 69 Champions League appearances, 24 Copa del Rey appearances, 11 in the Spanish Super Cup, 5 at the Club World Cup, 2 in the Uefa Super Cup and one Intercontinental Cup.

Valverde has lifted 14 trophies with Real Madrid and these includes two European Cups, three Club World Cups, two Uefa Super Cups, three LaLiga titles, 3 Spanish Super Cups and one Copa del Rey.
In comparison to his compatriot Santamaría, who won four European Cups, one Intercontinental Cup, six league titles and one Copa del Rey after joining Real Madrid in 1957 from Nacional de Montevideo.
Fede Valverde will now miss Uruguay’s friendlies against Mexico and the United States of America on 16th and 19th November respectively.
