Real Madrid have confirmed that Kylian Mbappé has been diagnosed with a semitendinosus muscle injury in his left leg after medical tests on Monday.
The injury happened during the 1-1 draw against Real Betis last Friday, a match that also marked Mbappé’s 100th appearance for the club. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared the official statement on his official X handle:
Fabrizio Romano reported;
OFFICIAL: Kylian Mbappé has been diagnosed with a semitendinosus muscle injury in his left leg.
“His recovery will be monitored”, Real Madrid confirm.

The injury comes at a bad time for Real Madrid after their late setback in the La Liga title race. In that match, Héctor Bellerín scored a 94th-minute equalizer for Real Betis, leaving Madrid eight points behind Barcelona in the standings.
While the first team struggles with injuries and dropped points, there is good news from the academy. Real Madrid Juvenil A won the UEFA Youth League after beating Club Brugge on penalties in the final in Lausanne. Goalkeeper Javier Navarro was the hero, making two key saves in the shootout.
Softfootball believes that once further medical checks are completed, the club will decide if Mbappé can return in time for El Clásico on May 10. For now, he is expected to miss the match against Espanyol as he focuses on recovery ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Mbappé is expected to be out for around three weeks. Real Madrid will monitor his recovery closely and will not rush his return, as they aim to avoid any further injury complications during a key stage of the season.
