According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, the Los Blancos do not intend to renew Alaba’s contract or work with him beyond the summer of 2026. He wrote:

Real Madrid and David Alaba are still expected to part ways in summer 2026. No changes at this stage, still no formal or official communication between the parties but clear indications.

Alaba was slammed for his performance against Juventus during a UEFA Champions League fixture in November, 2025 as the fans were not happy with what they saw on show.

Alaba joined Real Madrid in July 2021 on a five-year deal, inheriting the No. 4 shirt, quickly becoming a key defender and contributing to multiple trophies, including a Champions League in his debut season, scoring in his first El Clásico, but his tenure has been significantly impacted by a major ACL tear in December 2023, leading to a long recovery,

Real Madrid have endured so many injuries this season especially in defense and are looking to bring in reinforcements at the summer. The Los Blancos are currently second in LaLiga with 42points, four points behind league leaders Barcelona after 18 matches so far.
