Real Madrid has unequivocally apologised for mistakenly using an image of Elche player, André da Silva during a tribute video for Diogo Jota, Softfootball reports.
The Los Blancos are preparing for a must win match against Elche this evening after archrivals Barcelona went top of the table following their 4-0 thrashing of Athletic Bilbao at the newly refurbished Camp Nou.

Unfortunately, Real Madrid during the Ordinary General Assembly of Representative Members made a wrong tribute to Diogo Jota and brother Andre Silva, after they died in a car accident in July.
Embarrassed by the situation, Real Madrid immediately released a statement via their official X handle. It read:
Real Madrid C.F. apologises to Elche C.F. and its player André da Silva for having mistakenly included his image in the obituary of an institutional video instead of that of André Silva, the brother of Diogo Jota, the Liverpool player. We regret this incident.
Interestingly, Elche’s striker, André da Silva is expected to start the match when they face Real Madrid at the Martinez Valero in La Liga match-day 13. Real Madrid drew goalless against Rayo Vallecano before the international break and would want to get back to winning ways with this encounter.

Elche are also searching for a win after it has eluded them for five matches and their last LaLaga match before the international break ended 1-1 against Real Sociedad. The misidentify incident before the match may just inspire them to go for the three points against the Los Blancos.
Real Madrid are currently second on the table with 31 points while Elche sit 13th with 15 points.
