Real Betis confident of Antony reunion

Real Betis are making a late push to reunite with Antony after the winger’s impressive loan spell with the club last season. The Brazilian rediscovered his spark in Spain, delivering a string of standout performances that quickly won over the Betis faithful. Both the player and the club are keen on picking up where they left off, but Manchester United’s demands are proving to be a stumbling block.

Softfootball understands that Betis have reopened talks with United earlier this week, and are now tabling a proposal for another loan deal. The La Liga side believe Antony’s pace and flair would give them an edge this season, and the 24-year-old has made it clear he wants to return. However, United are holding firm in their stance , they want a permanent transfer rather than another temporary exit.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the developments via his verified X handle, saying:

“Real Betis mantain their confidence to get Antony deal done, as reported last week.
Face to face talks took place on Monday and continue today, Betis offer initial loan and want to get it done asap… still waiting on green light.
Antony wants the move.”

For Betis, the deal feels like the natural next step after Antony’s success in Spain. The winger thrived under Manuel Pellegrini’s system last term, and both parties see the reunion as a perfect fit.

United, on the other hand, view the situation through a financial lens. Having spent heavily to bring Antony to Old Trafford, the club are determined to recoup part of that investment. A permanent sale would free up funds and ease pressure on the wage bill, but it risks alienating a player who clearly prefers a Betis return. With the window ticking down, the ball is firmly in United’s court.
