Marcus Rashford has spoken publicly for the first time following his surprise loan switch from Manchester United to FC Barcelona.
The England international has joined the Catalan giants on a season-long loan that runs through June 2026, and the agreement includes an option for Barça to sign him permanently.

The Catalan club confirmed the transfer via an official statement on their website, saying:
“Barcelona and Manchester United have reached an agreement for the loan of the player Marcus Rashford until 30 June 2026. The agreement also establishes an option to buy the English forward.
“The player have signed his contract as a Barça player this afternoon in at a private meeting in the presence of the FC Barcelona president, Joan Laporta; the director of the Football Area, and other Board members.”
Softfootball reported that Barcelona had got the deal over the line, and his presentation was made today, where he answered journalists questions for the first time as a Barcelona player.
“I’m very excited. I think it’s a club every player wants to play for,”
he told the club’s media.
“They’ve made me feel at home in these first few hours; everyone has made me feel very comfortable.
“It’s simple: I want to win everything. I think this is the best place to win titles. It’s a very ambitious team, and I’ll try to help them however I can.
“I’ve always enjoyed watching good football. I think I’m going to enjoy playing here. It’s a family club, where great players play.
“This team won almost everything last year, but I see the ambition everyone has and the desire they have to achieve their best version here.”
Rashford also said that Hansi Flick had played a big role in his decision to move to Barcelona and that he’s looking forward to working with the German coach.
He Said:
“Hansi Flick was another key factor in my arrival. The conversations I had with him were very positive. He’s proven to be one of the top coaches.
“He led a young team to such a successful season and came back to preseason wanting more,”
he added.
“As a player, we always appreciate the support, and as a new player, I really appreciate the affection the fans are showing me. I feel at home.”

Rashford is expected to make his Barça debut during the club’s preseason tour of Asia, possibly in their first fixture against Vissel Kobe.
He’ll wear the number 14 shirt, a jersey with history at the club. Thierry Henry, Javier Mascherano, and João Félix are just a few of the stars who’ve donned it before. The most recent holder, Pablo Torre, wore it last season.
Wearing such a shirt adds a layer of expectation, but if Rashford hits the ground running, he could write his own chapter in the club’s rich tradition.
