After completing his €66m move from Bournemouth to European champions PSG, Zabarnyi has described it as the best move. Softftootball followed the transfer business between Bournemouth and PSG as they agreed to final price for the defender.
Bournemouth have now lost three of their defenders from last season with Kepa Arrizabalaga returning to Chelsea after his loan spell with the club and has since now moved to Arsenal in a permanent deal, Dean Huijsen joining Real Madrid and now Illia Zabarnyi joining PSG.
The Ukrainian defender who played 36 league matches out of 38 league matches could not hide his pleasure as he spoke to the PSG media in his first interview as a PSG player. The Kyiv born defender was so proud for his growth.
He said:
“First of all, thank you! It’s just unbelievable, and I’m so proud. For me, Paris Saint-Germain is the best club in the world and the best project for my future. I think this was the best possible choice, and I’m here to give everything on the pitch. It’s as simple as that.
I felt as though people wanted me to come here, and honestly, that really motivated me to do so as soon as possible! In the end, that’s what happened. This is a new experience for me, and it’s amazing. I’m still young, so I need to try new things, which is why I think that this was the right decision.
I can’t wait to make my debut and to meet the fans. I’m really looking forward to being at the Parc! Paris Saint-Germain is a huge club, and I’m expecting it to be difficult, but I’m ready. I’m just looking forward to meeting the team and to starting to play.”
European champions, PSG will face Europa League winners, Tottenham Hotspurs in the battle for the first European trophy of the season in Italy. Zabarnyi might be making his debut in the game.
