Wolverhampton Wanderers will face Brentford in an important Premier League clash at Molineux Stadium this weekend, Softfootball reports.

Both teams are looking to improve their league positions and pick up valuable points. Wolves aren’t in the best form as they had a tough start to the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Their 2-1 Premier League defeat from Arsenal only added to their ongoing struggle at the bottom of the league table, having picked up very few points and still waiting for their first win this campaign.

Wolves shared the scheduled match on their official X handle;

Brentford, however, are in a slightly better form, around the mid-table position with more points this season than Wolves. They have struggled at times and have won in their last four matches in all competitions.

They recently lost 2-0 to Manchester City in the League Cup but that was a competition against one of the strongest teams in England, giving Brentford a difficult time. Historically, Brentford and Wolves have met 20 times with Wolves getting 9 wins, Brentford 6 wins and 5 draws.

This shows that Wolves are slightly ahead but none of the sides are dominating. At Molineux Stadium, Wolves still had a slight edge over Brentford with 5 wins in 10 games, Brentford had 3 and then, two draws.

Wolves coach, Rob Edwards spoke ahead of the match in a pre match conference shared on the club’s official X handle. He spoke about on he thinks about the Bees and what his squad’s performance would be like,

I think you know they’ve had a lot of change and so it’s understandable, they could have had like… they can have some highs and lows. I think that’s normal especially at this league in this season anyway, especially after you’ve had quite a lot of change. So, as I say, I think, they’ve done a good job but what we got to do is concentrate on ourselves and we’ve got to try and take some of the things that we did very well. Last time out against Arsenal, those got to become like our non-negotiables, this is what we do. Whoever we’re playing against, it doesn’t matter if we’re home or away but clearly, it’s going to be a different type of game as well. We’ll probably have a bit more of the ball than we had the other night as well. So we’re gonna make sure that we can take control of the right moments and try and create more as well.

Keith Andrews, Brentford Coach also spoke about his squad’s overall fitness in a pre match conference which was shared on the club’s official X handle. He said,

Jordan and Thiago both picked up little knocks against Leeds, I don’t know yet, is the honest answer, on exactly how they are. They’ve been with medics today and we’ll see how they are going into the game on Saturday. Our injury record, if you take the cruciate injuries of Antoni Milambo and Fábio Carvalho out of the equation, we’re in a really good place on that front. We’ve managed that side of things really well; the medical and performance teams have been outstanding. The way we communicate and the dynamics of how we train and how we push the players, trying to find that correct balance to find the right amount of edge. I’ve been really happy on that front.

Talking about his opponents, he said;

It’s going to a really difficult game. You just need to see how they played against Arsenal and Villa; they showed a lot of personality and fight to play for the manager and represent the club. We certainly won’t underestimate them
