Galatasaray legend Dževad Prekazi believes Victor Osimhen had his heart set on a move to the Premier League before eventually joining the Turkish champions from Napoli.

Softfootball added that Osimhen’s switch to Galatasaray came as a surprise to many, especially after months of speculation linking the Super Eagles striker with a transfer to the English top flight.

Speaking to TRT Spor via Cumhuriyet, Prekazi admitted he never expected the Nigerian striker to end up at Galatasaray, insisting the player’s preference was to move to England.

“I couldn’t believe Osimhen; I couldn’t believe he would come to Galatasaray and that he did,” Prekazi told TRT Spor via Cumhuriyet.

“He wanted to go to England; the problem was in Napoli because the transfer was a lot of money.”

The former Galatasaray star also praised Osimhen’s quality, expressing confidence that the prolific forward would have a huge impact at the club.

“I don’t know how he came to Galatasaray. It is great; he will make a great contribution; it is obvious. Nobody can keep him.”

Osimhen joined Galatasaray after his anticipated move away from Napoli failed to materialise during the summer transfer window, with Premier League clubs reportedly unable to reach an agreement over the financial terms of the deal.
