Nigeria defender Gabriel Osho remains confident the Super Eagles can still secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite their disappointing start to the qualifying campaign.
The three-time African champions are currently fifth in Group C with just three points from their opening four matches, leaving them with plenty of work to do in the remaining fixtures.
Softfootball gathers Osho remains optimistic that the team’s quality and the extended qualification format will give Nigeria enough time to turn things around.
Speaking to Flashscore, the defender expressed his belief in the squad’s ability to recover from their slow start. Osho said:
We have to focus on the World Cup qualifiers and the AFCON. After the last competition, our goal is to progress and triumph. I think we have enough talent. The quality of our team is probably the best in Africa.
The centre-back also urged patience, insisting there are still enough matches left to revive Nigeria’s qualification hopes.
The qualification is longer in this format, so we have time. We have games that will allow us to rectify the situation. God willing, we will qualify,
