2025 English FA Cup winners, Crystal Palace are facing a hard test to keep together the bunch of players that won the first ever trophy in the club’s history at the end of 2024/25 season. Palace historically defeated Manchester City in the finals of the FA Cup courtesy of Eberechi Eze’s goal.
Since then, Eze had been in the lime light and it has been reported multiple times that the English man might leave the Selhurst park this summer.
Although the only club linked with Eze’s departure from Palace remains Arsenal, who have done massive business in this transfer window with the signing of 6 players, the latest being Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon.

Despite the links, Eze has reported to Palace for preseason and has been in good shape and form for the Eagles as they prepare for the 25/26 season where they will also play in Europe for the first time.
Softfootball reported how Crystal Palace were dumped to the Europa Conference League by UEFA on a ruling that had to do with double ownership. The Eagles were originally meant to play in the Europa League for winning the English FA Cup.
Palace played a preseason game today against Mainz 05 which they lost 3-2 but Eze started the game and helped Palace to a 1-1 draw at half time.
Watch below Jean-Philippe Mateta’s goal in the friendly as posted by the club on its official verified X handle.
Eze, Mateta and the other starters were substituted at half time. After the full time, head coach of the side, Oliver Glasner spoke about the team and its transfer so far this window. The Eagles had brought in no key player to their senior team so far.
Glasner on the slow business in the transfer window expressed a little disappointment. He explained that:
“Even though all the players are still here, we haven’t made the most of the transfer window so far. I was promised that we would be more active and bring in the new players earlier this year.
“As of now, I have 17 outfield players! I hope we don’t lose any more. If that happens and we get four new ones on deadline day like last year, another false start is possible.”
The only new arrivals at the club are 32 year old, Walter Benitez got from Dutch side, PSV Eindhoven on a free and Borna Sosa, 27 year old, left back from Ajax got for €2.30m.
If Eze were to leave the Eagles, it leaves them short in the attacking department and with all the games expected to be played, they will definitely need to be active in the market.
