West Ham United manager Nuno Espírito Santo has taken a moment during the festive period to speak directly to the club’s supporters, offering a warm and personal Christmas message at a time when the team is facing real challenges on the pitch, following West Ham’s disappointing 3-0 defeat to Manchester City and a 1-1 draw against Brighton.
In a short but heartfelt message posted by the club via their official X account, Nuno thanked fans for standing by the club since his arrival.

He said:
Hello West Ham fans, I want to take this chance to thank you for all the support since I joined the club. Really grateful and wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The message comes during a difficult phase of the season. West Ham currently sits 18th in the Premier League table, firmly in the relegation zone. With just 13 points collected by Christmas, it marks the club’s joint-lowest tally at this stage since the 2010–11 campaign.
Softfootball understands that results have been hard to come by, confidence has dipped, and frustration is understandable. Still, Nuno appears determined to keep the bond with supporters strong.
Away from the pressure of matchdays, the Portuguese coach has made a clear effort to connect with the West Ham community.

Recently, he surprised members of Any Old Irons, a supporters’ group for fans aged over 65, by attending their Christmas party in East Ham.
The visit wasn’t about publicity. It was about listening, understanding the club’s roots, and showing respect to those who’ve followed West Ham through decades of ups and downs.

That community focus continued through the club’s United at Christmas initiative. Nuno, alongside first-team players, visited hospitals across East London, including King George Hospital and Queen’s Hospital.
Gifts were handed out, smiles were shared, and for a few hours, football results didn’t really matter. Jarrod Bowen and Tomáš Souček were among those involved, helping lift spirits for patients and NHS staff alike.

Looking ahead, Nuno’s attention quickly turns back to football matters. Defensive solidity remains a major concern, with clean sheets at the top of his wish list as January approaches.
Reinforcements could arrive, but more than anything, the manager is trying to build belief. In tough moments, clubs lean on connection. Nuno seems to understand that, maybe more than most.
