Nottingham Forest will host Liverpool on Sunday, 22nd February 2025, in a fixture carrying major consequences at both ends of the table.
Softfootball gathered that Forest stunned Liverpool 3–0 at Anfield in the first leg earlier this season. In their last three meetings, Forest have beaten Liverpool twice and drawn once. However, across the last 10 meetings overall, Liverpool hold the edge with five wins, compared to Forest’s three, alongside two draws.

Forest currently sit 17th with 27 points, fighting desperately to escape relegation. Their season has been marked by instability. The club has already employed four permanent managers during the 2025/26 campaign — a Premier League first.
Nuno Espírito Santo was dismissed in September 2025 following tensions with owner Evangelos Marinakis while Ange Postecoglou followed but lasted just 39 days without a win. Sean Dyche was then sacked in February after leaving the club hovering just above the drop zone. The current head coach, Vítor Pereira, was appointed on 15 February 2026 on an 18-month contract and now carries the responsibility of steering Forest to safety.

For Liverpool, the stakes are equally high. They are pushing for Champions League qualification and cannot afford dropped points, especially with rivals like Manchester United and Chelsea also in contention. Failure to win could significantly dent their top-four hopes.
Interestingly, Liverpool have shown resilience in recent weeks, defeating Sunderland A.F.C. home and away, results that surprised many given Sunderland’s strong form this season. There appears to be renewed fighting spirit within the squad at this crucial stage.
If Forest fail to secure points, they risk slipping deeper into relegation danger. If Liverpool stumble, their Champions League ambitions could suffer a major setback.
