England continued their perfect start to 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying with a 2-0 win over Andorra at the Villa park. Among the standout players was Noni Madueke, whose pressure from the right wing which caused a lot of problems and forced the own goal that set the tone Three Lions to win the game, Softfootball reports.
The 21 year old Arsenal forward was lively throughout the game, linking up well with his teammates and showing the directness Thomas Tuchel has been instilling in the team. Softfootball understands that Madueke’s consistency is increasingly making him an important player for the Three Lions, particularly with fellow arsenal star Bukayo Saka still unavailable through injury.

Speaking with the English media via the National Team’s website after the match, Madueke had this to say:
“First and foremost, it’s good to get the win and a clean sheet,” said the Arsenal forward.
“Of course, we knew what type of game it was going to be. Sometimes it was frustrating. It is about getting the goals and the team won, so I am happy.”
With regards England’s approach to the game, which was their first qualifier since the first game with Andorra in June, Madueke added: “He [Thomas Tuchel] wants us to be direct. That was a great example of it [England’s second goal]. Reece [James] top quality, and it was a great cross and a great finish from Dec [Rice].
“We won the game, World Cup qualifier, clean sheet and two goals – I am happy.
“They are tough nuts to crack. When you play against 11 players in 30 metres of space it will be hard for every single team in the world.
“Today was better than the last time we played them, we were more fluid. We should have scored more but overall I am happy with the team’s collective performance.”
And the ex PSV and Chelsea player was also left impressed by the performance of his new teammate Anderson, saying;
“I knew he was top before, because when we play Nottingham Forest he is always so good.
“I knew he’d play like that, he was amazing and looked at home.”
Softfootball reports that Tuchel’s decision to hand Anderson a starting role on his England debut was rewarded with an energetic and assured display, one that caught the eye of both fans and senior players. Madueke’s praise will only further boost the youngster’s confidence as he integrates into the squad.

For Madueke himself, his form is becoming increasingly important. With his fourth involvement in England’s last eight matches, he continues to provide a valuable spark in the attacking third. Tuchel was also pleased with the winger’s direct play, a key part of the tactical approach he wants to build on heading into sterner tests.
Looking ahead, England now prepare to face Serbia away in Belgrade, a match that Tuchel has already warned will provide a far more physical and demanding challenge. For players like Madueke, Anderson, and Rice, it’s another chance to cement their importance in England’s qualifying journey.
