According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Gio Simeone popularly referred to as El Cholito is keen on a fresh start with Torino willing to offer him an escape from Napoli.

He said:

“Gio Simeone has agreed personal terms with Torino… and he already spoke to the manager Marco Baroni.

“Baroni convinced Simeone about project despite his initial desire to try chapter out of Italy. Negotiations underway between Torino and Napoli.”

Last season, Simeone scored just one goal with one assist in 30 Serie A appearances, albeit spread over just 393 minutes. The Argentine played just over 1000 minutes of league football since the start of the 2023-24 season.

Simeone is an elegant yet powerful and opportunistic forward with an eye for goal, who is capable of playing anywhere along the front line, although he has been deployed as a second striker, he has also been used in a central role as a main striker, and is a competent and efficient finisher with both feet, despite being naturally right footed.

A tenacious and energetic player, he is known for his work-rate and defensive contribution off the ball, and often drops into midfield in order to help his team win back possession. He is also known for his speed and intelligent attacking movement, which enables him to create space and provide depth for his team.

Regarded as a promising young player, he also possesses good technical skills, as well as flair and finesse on the ball, and is capable of linking-up with his teammates and bringing other forwards into play.

Unfortunately for Simeone, he won’t be playing with new Napoli signing, Kevin de Bruyne next season. The Belgian joined Napoli from Manchester City this summer.

Torino and Napoli are yet to agree a fee but that would not be a problem as the Italian champions is expected to give a green light to the deal soon.
