Napoli director Mauro Meluso has revealed that Victor Osimhen could still leave the club in January if the right deal is agreed.

Softfootball understands that the Super Eagles striker was strongly linked with a move to Chelsea before he eventually joined Galatasaray on loan during the summer transfer window.

Osimhen’s move to Turkey came after a difficult period with Napoli, where he was no longer considered part of the club’s first-team plans.

Speaking with Corriere dello Sport, Meluso explained that the loan move to Galatasaray was arranged as a late solution to ensure the Nigerian striker did not spend the first part of the season inactive.

According to him, Napoli will assess the situation again in January if a suitable offer arrives.

Meluso also confirmed that Osimhen no longer wanted to remain with the first team, making an exit the most reasonable solution for both the player and the club.

The Napoli director added that Osimhen had received an important offer even before he arrived at the club, but Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis decided not to accept it at the time because he believed keeping the striker was in the club’s best interest.

He admitted that some decisions may not have worked out perfectly, but insisted they were made with the intention of keeping Napoli competitive.

Osimhen remains one of the biggest Nigerian names in European football, and his future is expected to attract more attention when the January transfer window opens.

For now, Chelsea remain one of the clubs linked with the striker, while Napoli appear ready to listen if the right proposal is placed on the table.
