MLS side offer Harvey Elliott escape route from Aston Villa nightmare

England International, Harvey Elliott has been offered an escape route from his Aston Villa nightmare by Major League Soccer (MLS) side, Charlotte FC, Softfootball reports.

Elliot hardly gets a look in by Unai Emery and was nowhere near the team when Aston Villa lost 4-1 to Arsenal in their last match of 2025.

According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, informs that the midfielder is wanted in the MLS but must decide if he wants to make that choice. He revealed:

Charlotte FC are prepared to offer Harvey Elliott the chance to play on loan in MLS until June. Elliott, likely to return to Liverpool after being unused at Aston Villa on loan. Decision up to the player.

Emery once claimed he dropped Elliott for tactical reasons during a match against Manchester City but he has continuous refused to play the midfielder which has left a lot of pundits and fans wondering what the issue maybe.

Elliot featured in a lot of matches under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool and even made it into the England first team squad after winning so much with the U-21’s. However, the arrival of Arne Slot signalled the end for the midfielder at Anfield and he made the switch to Aston Villa on loan.

Elliot is tipped to return to Anfield in January and fight for his place with the 2026 FIFA World Cup in a few months but the player is yet to decide on his next move.
