Militão Injury Confirmed as Real Madrid’s Defensive Crisis Deepens

Real Madrid have officially confirmed that centre-back Éder Militão has suffered a serious muscle injury, adding to the club’s growing list of fitness concerns this season. The Brazilian was forced off early in the 24th minute during yesterday’s shocking 0-2 home defeat to Celta Vigo, a moment that immediately raised alarm on the Madrid bench as Antonio Rüdiger came on to replace him, Softfootball reports.

Sources within the club indicated immediately after the match that the medical team feared a significant muscular issue, prompting further tests this morning.

The club released a statement through their official X handle, detailing the extent of the damage:

Following tests conducted on our player Éder Militão by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a rupture of the biceps femoris tendon in the left leg, specifically affecting the proximal tendon. His progress will be monitored.

This setback comes at a difficult time for Real Madrid, who are already navigating a worrying pattern of injuries across their squad. Ferland Mendy was the latest player ruled out just before the clash against Athletic Bilbao, and the addition of Militão to the recovery list only increases the pressure on Xabi Alonso’s defensive options.

With crucial fixtures ahead, including league and Champions League commitments, Los Blancos will now be hoping for positive updates in the coming weeks as they attempt to stabilise a squad hit hard by fitness issues.
