Lionel Messi has revealed that his time at Paris Saint-Germain was one of the most difficult periods of his career, admitting he was unhappy throughout his two seasons with the French champions before moving to Inter Miami.
The Argentine superstar joined PSG in 2021 after his emotional departure from Barcelona but said he never truly settled in France. Softfootball gathered that Messi struggled to adapt to his new environment, both in training and during matches, despite producing impressive numbers for the Ligue 1 side.
Reflecting on his move to Major League Soccer, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner explained that joining Inter Miami gave him a fresh sense of purpose. He described the American club as an exciting project and said he was attracted by the opportunity to contribute to its growth.

Since arriving in the United States, Messi has played a leading role in Inter Miami’s rise and believes the club’s participation in the FIFA Club World Cup will further boost the profile of both the team and Major League Soccer. He also hopes the competition will encourage more elite players to consider moving to the league.
