Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram believes no club in Europe is superior to the Nerazzurri, insisting they belong among the continent’s elite sides.
The France international made the bold claim while reflecting on Inter’s ambitions this season, with Simone Inzaghi’s side competing for major honours both domestically and in Europe.
Softfootball understands Thuram is confident the Serie A champions have the quality to challenge any opponent. Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Thuram said:
Yes. I consider Inter one of the super greats of Europe. I feel we’re a team that strikes fear.
The 27-year-old dismissed suggestions that any club currently stands above Inter, placing the Italian side among the strongest contenders in the UEFA Champions League.
I don’t see even one club superior to us, not even one. There are five or six teams in the Champions League stronger than the others. And we are among these,
he added.
Asked whether winning the Champions League was his main objective, Thuram refused to prioritise one competition over another.
I can’t choose. I aim to win all five trophies. If I focus everything on the Champions League and then don’t win it, what happens?
he said.
Thuram also described his spell at Inter as the peak of his career, crediting the support he receives from those around the club.
