Marcos Llorente has expressed his desire to finish his career at Atlético Madrid, reaffirming his commitment to the club while hoping to agree a contract renewal.
Softfootball can confirm The comments came shortly after Atlético suffered a 3–2 defeat to Real Madrid on March 22, 2026, a result that raised concerns over the team’s defensive stability and intensity.
In comments confirmed by Fabrizio Romano via his X handle, the Spain international said:
Marcos Llorente: “I want to retire at Atlético. I want to stay longer at the club and hope to reach an agreement for a renewal. I feel valued at this club”. “I don’t see myself playing beyond the age of 35”, told Diario Sport.

Llorente made the remarks during an interview with Sport while on international duty, underlining his long-term attachment to Atlético despite recent challenges for the team.
Earlier in the month, the club also confirmed the return of former striker David Villa, who has taken on a new role as an advisor and member of the board, marking a significant addition to Atlético’s leadership structure.
