Aston Villa are poised to complete the loan signing of Marco Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain for the rest of the season. Manager Unai Emery has long admired the former Real Madrid star and is now close to finalizing the deal after productive talks with the French club.

Softfootball indicates that Asensio himself pushed for the move after finding opportunities limited under Luis Enrique.

The Spanish playmaker has struggled for consistent minutes in Ligue 1 this campaign, starting only eight league matches.

Despite his reduced role, he has still managed six goal contributions in twelve appearances, showing he retains the quality needed for the Premier League. His desire for regular football makes this temporary switch an attractive proposition for both player and club.

Asensio originally joined PSG on a free transfer in 2023 after leaving Real Madrid, turning down Villa at that time. With his contract entering its final year this summer, the timing aligns perfectly for a loan spell that could benefit all parties. Emery views him as the creative spark needed to strengthen Villa’s attack during the crucial second half of the season.
