Diego Maradona Jr has backed Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia at Napoli should the Georgian complete his expected move away from the Italian club. Kvaratskhelia has been strongly linked with a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain this month.
Maradona Jr believes finding a direct replacement for Kvaratskhelia will be extremely difficult, but he feels Garnacho has the quality and potential to succeed at Napoli. Softfootball reports that he also urged supporters not to be overly critical of Kvaratskhelia if he decides to leave the club.
Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss, Maradona Jr said:
Finding a player of Kvaratskhelia’s level is almost impossible, he is among the top three wingers in the world when he is well. Garnacho is a strong player, those who criticize him have nothing to do with football.
He added that Garnacho is capable of making a difference because of his ability in one-on-one situations, quality and finishing. Maradona Jr also stressed that any player who joins Napoli should be committed to staying and respecting the club’s identity.
