Softfootball can confirm that Manchester United have now submitted an official bid to RB Leipzig for Benjamin Šeško, following Newcastle’s earlier €90 million proposal, a move that signals the club’s clear intent to win the race for one of Europe’s most promising forwards.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United made their intentions formal after submitting a bid for Sesko this afternoon.

Fabrizio wrote on his X handle as follows:
“Manchester United sent official bid to show serious, concrete intentions to RB Leipzig… following Newcastle €90m bid.
“Sources at Man United believe Šeško is keen on the move and decided to proceed with an official bid.
“Newcastle and United, waiting for his formal decision.”
The offer, made by United, was greenlit internally after senior figures at Carrington were informed that Šeško is open to a move to Old Trafford.
While the structure of United’s bid remains undisclosed for now, it is understood to be competitive, with Newcastle having also submitted an €80m + €10m add-ons package this week, as earlier reported by Softfootball.
The 21-year-old is admired for his intelligent movement, powerful frame, and composure in front of goal, attributes that United’s recruitment department has prioritised following Anthony Martial’s exit and Rasmus Højlund’s inconsistency.
Newcastle, for their part, remain in the mix. Their bid still stands, and Šeško has not ruled out the ambitious St James’ Park project under Ruud van Nistelrooy. However, the balance may now tilt towards United, who acted swiftly once given encouragement from the player’s representatives.
RB Leipzig has not set a formal deadline but expects a resolution within days as Šeško weighs up both sporting projects. Leipzig is open to a sale this summer, but only on their terms, with no intention of triggering a release clause discount or entertaining a player swap.
