Manchester United legend Paul Parker issues warning to Amorim ahead of the new season

Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has issued a stark warning to new manager Rúben Amorim, urging him to brace for immediate pressure to deliver results at Old Trafford or risk an early exit next season, Softfootball reports.

Amorim, 39, takes charge following United’s worst-ever Premier League campaign, in which the Red Devils lost 15 league matches. The Portuguese tactician inherits a squad in transition, with expectations soaring and patience rapidly thinning.

As revealed by the Premier League, Amorim has already admitted he could walk away if performances don’t improve. In an interview with SportsBoom, Paul Parker said

“The most important thing at any football club is what happens on the pitch,”

“That’s what makes or breaks everything. You can have all the money in the world, but without a proper football team, you won’t move forward.”

He continued:

“Manchester United were hard to watch last season. Fifteen losses in a league campaign is unheard of; it’s worrying.

“Football may be evolving, but there’s still no excuse for that level of decline. And if Amorim doesn’t steady the ship quickly, questions will be asked.”

Amorim’s appointment is part of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s long-term restructuring of the club. However, Parker who made over 100 appearances for United and won two league titles under Sir Alex Ferguson insists that results will remain the only true measure of success.

Meanwhile, Softfootball also reports that Manchester United are eyeing in-form Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabián Ruiz as a key summer target.

Amorim, preparing for his first full season, is said to be keen on revamping his midfield options after already securing the signing of Matheus Cunha for the attacking roles.
