Rebun Amorim surprising benched Matheus Cunha and started Mason Mount and he did not disappoint with a fine performance against the Black Cats. The England international who was involved in all the good plays for the home side opened scoring with a fantastic half volley after controlling a pass from Bryan Mbeumo and turned it past the outstanding Sunderland goalkeeper.
The Red Devils continued their dominant display with a lot of chances in the attacking third. Bruno Fernandez had his shot saved before Mbeumo missed his chance when he should have scored. But United eventually got a second goal and it was Benjamin Sesko as he netted in back-to-back games for the first time since he joined the club this summer.
In the second half, Sunderland pushed for the equalizer but couldn’t get past Senne Lammens, who was making his debut for Manchester United and he looked very assured. Lammens was preferred over Altay Bayindir by manager Amorim for this match.
Manchester United have now won three consecutive matches at home and celebrated it via their official X handle.
