According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, revealed that the deal is as good as done. He said:

EXCLUSIVE: André Onana agrees to join Trabzonspor, here we go!

All contracts are now signed on player side, waiting on counter approval from Trabzonspor and travel next week.

Deal done on loan from Manchester United as revealed on Saturday, no buy option or loan fee.

The Turkey transfer window is open until September 12 while in England the window closed on September 1.

This season, Onana has been relegated to the team’s third choice after playing as the undisputed number one since he joined the club two seasons ago under former manager Erik Ten Hag.

Onana has not played in any Premier League matches this season as Turkey international, Altay Bayindir has been picked ahead of him for the three matches played so far this season against Arsenal, Fulham and Burnley.

Onana’s only outing this season has come against League Two side Grimsby and it was a disgraceful elimination from the Carabao Cup after drawing 2-2 at full time and losing 12-11 on penalties.

Onana’s performance in that game did not inspire confidence as it forced the club into the market and Manchester United signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp as replacement for the former Ajax goalkeeper.

Last season, Manchester United cut players wages by 25% after failing to reach the UEFA Champions League as they finished 15th on the Premier League log and lost the final of the Europa League against Tottenham Hotspur.

The decision didn’t sit well with Onana and his representatives and they demanded for a new improved contract from Manchester United. That move infuriated manager Amorim, who immediately dropped the Cameroonian as first choice for the new season.

Onana will be a Trabzonspor play if he passes his medical and signs his loan contract. After the international break Manchester United will face rivals Manchester City in one of English football’s toughest derbies.
