Manchester United are considering to sign 2 midfielders in the summer as Manuel Ugarte could leave.

Movements started around Uruguay midfielder; talks to follow about fee and deal structure from May/June.

Casemiro leaves and Ugarte could go too.

According to the update, movement has already started around the Uruguayan midfielder, while more concrete talks over a possible fee and deal structure are expected to follow in May and June.

Casemiro is also expected to leave, meaning United could be preparing for a major reset in the middle of the pitch. Reports around the club suggest at least one midfield signing is now certain, while a second is becoming increasingly likely as planning for next season intensifies.

That kind of move would signal a clear shift in direction from United. Instead of patching over issues, this feels more like the start of a proper squad restructure.

The idea seems to be building a younger, more energetic midfield core that can better match the demands of the modern game. And while changes are expected in midfield, there is also some important stability being secured elsewhere in the squad, especially with Kobbie Mainoo still seen as a key part of the club’s long-term project.

There has also been positive movement at the back, with Harry Maguire set to continue at Old Trafford after agreeing a new deal that runs until 2027, with the club also holding an option for an extra year.

That extension is a strong sign that United still value his experience, leadership, and influence within the dressing room at a time when the squad is still evolving.

As Softfootball reported, there is now a growing feeling that United fans may finally have reasons to believe the project is moving in the right direction.

With smarter planning, key contract decisions, and a more intentional transfer strategy beginning to take shape, the signs of progress are becoming harder to ignore. If this summer goes well, it could be one of the most important windows United have had in years.
