Softfootball reports that Manchester United have made contact with Carlos Baleba’s representatives this week to assess the Brighton midfielder’s situation, as the club continues to explore midfield reinforcements ahead of the new season.
However, Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly reluctant to sell the 21-year-old, with the asking price expected to be really high.

According to Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have recently contacted Carlos Baleba’s representatives to gauge the Cameroon midfielder’s current situation and availability.
He posted via his official X account:
“Manchester United approached Carlos Baleba’s camp this week to be informed on player’s situation. Brighton plan to keep Baleba at the club as price tag would be very high, seen as difficult deal. #MUFC plan to try get new midfielder after Šeško deal this summer.”
The Cameroon international joined Brighton from Lille for around €30 million and remains highly rated within the club. While the Seagulls are open to listening to offers, sources suggest a valuation in the region of €100–120 million, which could prove to be a major stumbling block.
Brighton’s recent record of extracting significant fees for key players, including Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister, suggests they are unlikely to budge on their valuation.

Manchester United have reached out to Brighton via intermediaries to enquire about potential conditions for a transfer. However, with the Red Devils also expected to complete the signing of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško, financial constraints could hinder any move for Baleba until they complete the signing of the striker.
Should Manchester United complete the signing of Baleba after landing Benjamin Sesko, it will cap what many will consider to be a hugely successful summer window for the Red Devils, especially when you include the signings of Mbuemo and Cunha.
The 21-year-old featured in 40 games across all competitions last season, scoring four goals and providing two assists. Despite Manchester United’s interest, a deal this summer appears challenging unless the Premier League giants are willing to meet Brighton’s steep demands.
