Manchester United return to Premier League action on Monday night aiming to keep their solid run going, and the mood around Old Trafford is much brighter than it was a few months back. United’s recent form, plus the encouraging signs seen in training this week, has given fans a bit more hope.

SoftFootball recently reported on the positive sessions involving Joshua Zirkzee and Lisandro Martínez, who both trained with United youngsters as the squad settled back in after the break.
United’s unbeaten streak has stretched to five matches, although the last two were nervy 2-2 draws at Nottingham Forest and Tottenham. In the Forest match, De Ligt’s late header secured a point, and SoftFootball highlighted how the Dutch defender has barely missed a minute this season and continues to be a rock at the back.

They now face an Everton side still adjusting under David Moyes. The Toffees have not enjoyed much success away from home, though they did enter the break fresh from a 2-0 win over Fulham.
However, Everton also suffered a setback as Merlin Röhl underwent a minor hernia operation, leaving them a man short for a few weeks, as mentioned by the manager in a press conference video shared on the club’s official X account.

Team News
United are dealing with their own injury issues. Benjamin Sesko will miss a few weeks after pulling up late in the draw at Tottenham, while Harry Maguire is also ruled out. Kobbie Mainoo could still feature depending on how he responds in the final sessions. Lisandro Martínez is edging closer and might be cleared for the bench.
For Everton, Röhl is unavailable, Jarrad Branthwaite remains out until the new year, and Nathan Patterson is doubtful.

Possible Lineups
Manchester United (3-4-2-1): Lammens; Yoro, De Ligt, Shaw; Mazraoui, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Diallo; Zirkzee.
Everton (4-2-3-1): Pickford; O’Brien, Keane, Tarkowski, Mykolenko; Garner, Gueye; Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish; Barry.

SoftFootball’s Prediction
It feels like a tight one, but United’s home form gives them the edge. They have won every league match at Old Trafford this season apart from the Arsenal game. Everton will try to make it messy, but United are expected to find a way through.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Everton.
