Real Madrid had a perfect evening at the Anoeta on Saturday evening after cruising to a 2-1 win over hosts Real Sociedad, Softfootball reports.
The Xabi Alonso side came fully prepared to the party and, in no time, broke the deadlock with Kylian Mbappe’s masterpiece in the 15th minute, and then the French attacker assisted Arder Gular to his first goal of the season. However, Real Sociedad got a consolation in the game as Mikel Oyarzabal scored from the spot in the second half.

Into the game, Softfootball earlier reported how Coach Xabi Alonso started Mbappe alongside Vinicius Junior and Abraham Diaz upfront, while Ader Guler filled injured Jude Bellingham’s position in Saturday evening’s clash with Real Sociedad.

The game opened with drama inside two minutes when Arda Güler’s strike was ruled out for offside. Igor Zubeldia was booked shortly after for a rash challenge on Éder Militão, while Mbappé’s early attempts kept goalkeeper Alex Remiro busy. VAR then denied Madrid a second breakthrough, but in the 12th minute, Mbappé finally broke the deadlock with a sharp finish to make it 1-0.

The Frenchman struck the post moments later, while Ander Barrenetxea went close for Sociedad at the other end. Militão was twice threatened with headers but was denied by Remiro’s sharp reflexes. The hosts were dealt a blow in the 32nd minute when Dean Huijsen saw red for halting Mikel Oyarzabal’s counterattack, and Alonso himself was cautioned for protesting. Real’s pressure told again on 44 minutes, with Mbappé setting up Güler to double the lead.

After the restart, Sociedad grew back into the game. Pablo Marín struck the post in the 50th minute before Oyarzabal converted a penalty five minutes later to bring the score to 2-1.

Mbappé curled narrowly wide on the hour, while Oyarzabal forced a fine stop from Thibaut Courtois soon after. Duje Ćaleta-Car then squandered a golden chance, blasting over from close range in the 67th minute.
Coach Alonso then made a last change in the game, bringing in Trent Alexander-Arnold to replace Dani Carvajal, 10 minutes to stoppage time.
The win now keeps Real Madrid in the first position with 12 points as Real Sociedad drops to the 17th position with two points.
