Liverpool’s new signing, Hugo Ekitike flies to Merseyside to complete his 6 year transfer.

Liverpool are now ready to have Hugo Ekitike in their fold as the new striker was seen flying to Liverpool to sign his 6 years contract as new Reds player. Softfootball can confirm that Liverpool paid nothing less than the  €95 million with add-ons included requested by his former club Eintracht Frankfurt.

Ekitike had been a subject of news in the last few days as clubs including Newcastle, Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona and Arsenal were reportedly interested in the 22 year old French striker.

A post by transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano reveals that Hugo Ekitike was on his way to settle the remaining parts of his transfer to the Premier League champions. Fabrizio’s post on his verified X handle read:

Hugo Ekitike and his agent Karl Mwalako, flying to Merseyside as the French striker is set to start his medical at Liverpool today.

6 year contract, set to be signed soon.

The French U21 star bagged 13 goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances last season for Frankfurt after joining permanently from PSG. His blend of athleticism, sharp movement, and final-third quality caught the attention of multiple  clubs as he was sought after this summer.

Liverpool were originally in pursuit of Newcastle’s Alexander Isak but were put off by the Magpies’ offer rejection and then decided to hijack Newcastle’s pursuit of Ekitike.

The Reds are looking to add new firepower to their attack for next season as they are open to letting Uruguayan striker, Darwin Nunez and Colombian winger, Luis Diaz leave the club for the right transfer fee. Already, they have brought in German Florian Wirtz and Dutch Jeremie Frimpong both from Bayer Leverkusen. With Ekitike joining, this brings their total buy to 3 from the German Bundesliga this summer.

Softfootball had been following the complicated transfer battle between Newcastle and Liverpool earlier and had reported how both clubs went head to head for the striker. Newcastle wanted Ekitike as addition to Isak after Calum Wilson’s exit but have now failed in their bid to get the striker.
