Antoine Semenyo was in blistering form on the opening weekend of the Premier League as he scored a brace for Bournemouth in their 4-2 defeat against defending Champions Liverpool, Softfootball reports.
The Reds paid tribute to Diogo Jota and brother Andre who lost their lives after a car crash. And according to Premier League directions, both teams wore a black armband and before the match there was a one minute applause from both sets of fans.

Liverpool went in front through new signing Hugo Ekitike after receiving a fine pass from Argentina international, Alexis Mac Allister. The crowd cheered loudly as it was the first goal in the Premier League this season.
Bournemouth were still in the game and pressed Liverpool hard for the equaliser but the Reds held firm, playing some outstanding football to escape pressure on some occasions.
They went into the break with Liverpool having a 1-0 advantage. The second half looked like the same as the Reds extended their lead. This time, Ekitike turned provider as he traded the ball onto the path of Dutch international, Cody Gakpo and he made no mistake finishing with aplomb.
In the second half, Liverpool’s official X handle, informed that Joe Gomez and Endo Wataru came on as substitutes for landmark appearances.

It wasn’t a straight forward game as Ghana international Antoine Semenyo turned the game on it’s head with two quick goals to level scores at 2-2. This was shortly after he was allegedly racially abused by a fan.

However, it wasn’t over as Liverpool showed by they are champions with two late goals. First, Federico Chiesa volleyed home for 3-2 and Mohamed Salah scored at stoppage time to make it 4-2.
In the end, it was a good win for Liverpool but a hard fought victory at Anfield on a day all the goalscorers honoured Diogo Jota. Gone but not forgotten. The Premier League is back.
