Softfootball understands that Lens initially opposed the postponement, as PSG had pushed for the change. With Lens trailing PSG in the league standings, they were keen to play the match during a congested period for the Paris side, believing it would offer a competitive advantage with fresher players.

However, Ligue 1 authorities ultimately approved the postponement. This means PSG will not play any domestic match between their first and second legs against Liverpool, allowing them to focus entirely on the European tie. A similar decision was made earlier in the competition when PSG’s fixture against Nantes was postponed ahead of their quarter-final clash with Chelsea.

The decision has sparked debate among fans and observers. Many believe the move is unfair and have called on UEFA to intervene, arguing that if multiple clubs begin postponing league matches for European fixtures, it could disrupt the balance and integrity of domestic competitions.
