Leicester City accept €9.5 million from Besiktas for Manchester United target Ndidi

Manchester United target, Wilfred Ndidi is set to become a Beşiktaş player after the Turkish club agreed a €9.5 million deal with Leicester City, Softfootball reports.

The 28-year-old has been a mainstay with the Foxes since he joined the club from Genk in January 2017.

According to football transfer expert, Florian Plettenberg through his official X handle revealed that the deal is done and the Nigerian would sign for Besiktas until 2028.

“Excl | Wilfred #Ndidi to Besiktas – DONE DEAL!

“Leicester are set to receive €9.5 million. A mutual agreement between the 28 y/o defensive midfielder and the club has been reached.

“Contracts are now being checked. Medical is scheduled for Thursday.”

Before agreeing to Besiktas move, Ndidi was linked with Manchester United and Tottenham earlier this summer but nothing came out of it.

The Nigerian is a strong tackler and reads the game very well. He can help under pressure Ole Gunnar Solskjaer make his midfield solid and provide cover for the backline.

Ndidi is a utility player who can play as center back if there’s need or injury crisis in the team. He can also play in an advance midfield position when he can lead the press from the front and get in among the goals too.

His injury situation last season made him lose a yard of pace but he still covers a lot of grounds and still a solid central midfielder that the fans in Turkey would love easily.

Unfortunately, Leicester City got relegated to the English Championship, only a season after gaining promotion under current Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca. While the Foxes faced relegation, Maresca led the Blues to FIFA Club World Cup and did it in style, beating favourites Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) 3-0 in the final.

Wilfred Ndidi made 303 official appearances for Leicester, scoring 18 goals and recorded 22 assists.
