Lamine Yamal’s new number 10 jersey is breaking sales records less than 48 hours after its release. The Catalan side reportedly sold around 70,000 shirts featuring the teenager’s name and new number.
On Wednesday, Barcelona confirmed Lamine Yamal’s new long-term contract by unveiling the Spaniard as their new number 10. Hundreds of fans gathered at the Spotify Camp Nou store, while many more ordered online, highlighting the massive buzz around Yamal.
Starting next season, Lamine Yamal will wear the iconic number 10 on his back. This symbolic change not only reflects his rising status but also the new dimension the former La Masia talent has reached at Barcelona.

According to information posted on X by Lives Foot no fewer than 70,000 units of Yamal’s new kit have been sold in just 24 hours, spanning over 170 countries. On the very first day of sales, FC Barcelona generated nearly 10 million euros thanks to their prodigy.

Yamal was able to claim the legendary number 10 following Ansu Fati’s loan move to AS Monaco. His compatriot had himself inherited the shirt after Lionel Messi left on a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021.
Going by the numbers, Barcelona made between €9-10.5 million in one day. That’s because an average Lamine shirt costs between €120-150, depending on where you’re buying from. Though it’s cheaper in Nike stores than in Barca stores.
Barcelona made around €150m from jersey sales last season, but the club expects to make much more than that this season, with Lamine wearing the 10.
The number 10 has alot of pressure behind it. It’s difficult to predict the future but I think that giving Yamal the number 10 was the right call. The 18-year old has had a reputation all season that he shows up in the big games and he’s at his best when he’s under pressure.
A number with that much weight might help bring his game to an even higher level as the pressure is immense. With his off the field antics, he is still 18 and even if he seems mature on the pitch its unsurprising if he’s still a bit immature off it. It’s okay to feel a bit concerned about the pressure but based on what we’ve seen, giving Lamine the number 10 is the right call.
In other news, Softfootball reported earlier that Barcelona are set to offload five players this summer to ease wage pressure.
While much of the attention around Barcelona focuses on new signings during the summer transfer window, the departures could prove just as crucial, especially with the club’s ongoing battle to stay within La Liga’s salary cap.
According to reports confirmed by SoftFootball, five players are currently on the chopping block as manager Hansi Flick and Deco, the director of football, work swiftly to reshape the squad and balance the books.
