Lamine Yamal has made it clear he is not concerned about how many goals he scores, stressing that personal statistics mean nothing to him compared to winning.

Speaking to the media, the Barcelona number 10 explained that players like Messi and Mbappé are far older and at different stages of their careers, while his own style of play is unique.

This was his statement:

You can score 16 goals in the tournament but be eliminated in the semis, so I don’t want that.

I want to win.

I don’t care about how many goals I score. I’m not obsessing about that.

First of all, they’re [Mbappé, Messi & co] all at least 10 years older than me, and my style of play is different. I only want to win.

Lamine is part of the Spain squad at the 2026 World Cup, and all eyes are on him. He is constantly compared to elite talents such as Mbappé, Olise, and Rice, with expectations that he will perform at the highest level throughout the tournament.
