Kurt Zouma is in advanced talks to join Al Wasl F.C., with a deal progressing for the free-agent defender to move to Dubai. The development was confirmed by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano via his official x handle.
he stated:
Kurt Zouma, in advanced talks to join Al Wasl as free agent. Deal underway with Dubai side.
Softfootball can confirm Zouma’s next destination marks another chapter in a nomadic spell following his departure from West Ham United F.C..
The centre-back previously spent time in Qatar with Al-Orobah FC before signing a two-year deal with CFR Cluj at the start of the season. However, that contract was terminated last month, reopening the market for the 30-year-old.
Zouma had been linked with moves to China and even a surprise return to the Premier League with Newcastle United F.C.. Instead, he is now set to sign with Al Wasl until the end of the season, reportedly turning down interest from Chinese clubs in favour of the UAE Pro League switch.

The move is believed to have been influenced by Al Wasl’s sporting director Eric Abidal, a fellow former France international, who has played a key role in negotiations.
During his time in east London, Zouma formed strong defensive partnerships with Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna, becoming a central figure in West Ham’s backline. Axel Disasi also completed a late loan move to West Ham from Chelsea F.C. until the end of the 2025/26 season.
His arrival in Dubai is viewed as a significant statement for the UAE Pro League, adding experience and physical presence to Al Wasl’s defence.
Elsewhere, Brentford F.C head coach Keith Andrews also committed his future to his club by signing a new contract running until 2032.
